Adversity Everywhere

This is inspired by my friend and mentor Coach John Davies.

Overcoming Adversity

That's pretty much the heart of the matter,

Life is all about overcoming adversity. We all must do it, or suffer and perish.

Whether it's health issues, financial woes, relationship crisis, we all face challenges

big and small. It's how we handle these situations that makes the difference in our

lives. As my friend, and mentor John Davies says "Do you get up off the canvas

when you get knocked down." Do you? Are we teaching that in schools? Do

people even have a sense of that anymore? It seems like it's gone by the wayside

in society today. We are not teaching people to overcome adversity. We are

teaching people that it's ok to complain, blame others, to not take responsibility for

their lives. A society of blame. "It's the economy!" It's my parents fault!" "If it wasn't

for my boss, teachers, wife, husband, kids, president, friends, girlfriend, boyfriend,

job, coworkers, genetics, brothers, sisters, and on and on it goes.

Let's take the higher road. Let's resolve to look adversity in the face, and say "You

may knock me down, but you won't keep me down!"

"Taking the high road" would most definitely include loving your father and siblings enough to talk to them, even if just to say goodbye.
